Founded in 1997 by Lee Ai, Jin Lon Hon, and Robert Kin, the Fremont Youth Basketball Club (FYBC) was established with a simple mission: to create opportunities for young athletes to grow in a safe, structured, and supportive environment.
From the beginning, FYBC focused on four core objectives:
Providing a healthy and positive space for youth to spend their free time.
Preparing players to compete successfully in their school basketball programs.
Offering families an enjoyable way to connect through sports.
Encouraging the development of basketball skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Over the years, FYBC has remained true to these objectives, building a strong reputation for both competitive excellence and community impact. Many of our players have advanced to leadership roles within their school athletic programs and have represented FYBC in regional leagues and tournaments.

In its early days, FYBC was powered entirely by volunteer coaches and parents, operating on community support and guided by the principle: “No child left behind.” The club welcomed players of all skill levels, making basketball accessible to families throughout the East Bay. As our athletes began earning recognition in NJB, AAU, and Asian League tournaments, FYBC formalized into a structured program to better serve the growing community.
FYBC is now a California Not-for-Profit Organization, serving boys and girls from 4th through 12th grade. Together, we provide a program that emphasizes skill development, character building, and competitive play in a safe and inclusive environment. Our organization is led by:
Experienced Board of Directors overseeing governance and operations.
Dedicated coaches committed to player growth and program development.
Supportive parents and families who volunteer their time and energy.
FYBC rents local gyms for weekend practices. Because availability may change by quarter, locations and times are adjusted seasonally, and families are encouraged to confirm schedules in advance. Each team is allocated two hours of practice per week. Some teams may arrange extra indoor or outdoor practices during the week to prepare for tournaments. Players are asked to arrive 15 minutes early for warm-up to ensure the most effective use of court time. Current practice facilities include:
Silliman Sports Center — 6800 Mowery Ave, Newark, CA 94560
Irvington Community Center — 41885 Blacow Rd, Fremont, CA 94538
