1) Introduction: Basketball Program of Fremont Youth Ball Club
- Start from Aug to Jun (11 months)
- Practice two hours each week (Sat. or Sun., excluding holidays) in Fremont/Newark areas
- Participate various tournaments (FYBC, Asian league, NJB, AAU, etc.) and FYBC events.
- All FYBC administration and operations are operated by parents/volunteers
- Fees collected by the club
- Registration fee (one time) and jersey fee for new players.
- Biannual Member fee; it is used for gym rental, insurance, and operations.
- Team fee (collect by each team); vary from team to team due to various tournament and team activities.
2) FYBC is looking for competitive players with following qualities
- Attitude
- Basketball Skills
- Attendance
- Athletic Ability
- Trainability
- Commitment
All grades listed in this document are in current school year, 2018-2019.
3) Girls in 7th, 8th, & 9th grade, and boys in 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, & 10th grade
- There is no fixed date for annual tryout.
- If you are an experienced and competitive player, please fill the Tryout Application Form anytime.
- If there is an open position, team manager will contact you to join one or two team practice as tryout.
4) Girls in 3rd, 4th 5th, & 6th grade, and boys in 3rd grade
- If you are a competitive athletics, please fill the Tryout Application Form before the deadline
- Current FYBC players are automatically on the tryout list; not required to fill the application form.
- The last day to apply the tryout is May 25,
- The Annual Tryout will be on Jun 9. 1:00-5:00 pm. The duration of tryout is about two hours for each grade.
- Team manager will email the “Annual Tryout Invitation” to all players with date/time/location before the end of May.
- Upon receiving “Annual Tryout Invitation”, receivers must reply to confirm the participation before the deadline. Fail to reply before the deadline, will be treated as “Decline the tryout invitation.”
- Make-up tryouts: Players must email team manager to request makeup tryout before the confirmation deadline. It is at the Team Coach’s discretion to grant the request. If granted, coach will make assessment after 1 or 2 regular practices as make-up tryout at later time, and make a placement decision.
Note: It is not guarantee that there is any position available in the team after the official annual tryout.
4.1.1) Tryout Day

- bring towel, water, and a basketball (marked with player’s name).
- Wear basketball shoes, and shorts no jean/jewelry/watch/ear ring, & etc.).
- FYBC players wear Blue FYBC jersey.
- New applicants wear White t-shirt no picture/large letter). And will receive a temporary jersey.
- Arrive 20 minutes earlier to check-in; sign waiver new applicants). And, wait for instruction to enter the gym,
- Parents are welcome to watch the tryout process, and must not interfere the tryout.
- If player is late for 5 minutes after tryout start, she will be eliminated from the tryout.
- No drop-in.
4.1.2) After Tryout
- After annual tryout, coach might invite selected players for few practice sessions before making final decision.
- One week after tryout, team manager will email “admit, or deny” notice to all tryout participants.
- Admitted players must reply (accept or decline) to team manager. Fail to reply will be treated as “Decline”.
5) New Season
- New season will start from the first weekend of Aug.
- Team manager will email the practice schedule before practice start
- At the first practice, team manager will collect the fee(s) and help ordering the jersey.
