FYBC Basketball Tryout Information
FYBC is looking for players who demonstrate enthusiasm, commitment, and a positive attitude, as well as strong basketball fundamentals, athleticism, and teamwork.
For the 2025–2026 season, FYBC will form teams for:
- Boys: 4th–9th grades
- Girls: 5th–8th grades
Teams practice 2 hours per weekend (excluding holidays) at gyms located in Fremont, Union City, and Newark. All teams participate in a variety of tournaments, including AAU, NJB, Asian League, and others.
The regular season runs from August to May.
- 9th-grade and older teams pause from November to February.
- Summer camp runs from June to July.
Fees

Member Fee – Covers gym rentals and club operations (collected semi-annually) – $110/month (2025/2026 year)

Registration Fee – One-time fee for new players – $60/player

Jersey Fee – Covers jersey tops, shorts, and warm-up shirts (as needed) – $140/set

Team Fee – Collected by individual teams to cover tournaments and activities – Varies
How to Join FYBC

Immediate Tryouts (Current School Year 2025–2026)
- Open to Boys (4th–9th grades) and Girls (5th–8th grades)
- Applications accepted until April 1, 2026
- Advanced 3rd graders who can compete at a 4th-grade level are welcome to apply.
- If a position is available, the team manager will email an invitation for an immediate tryout.
- Tryouts are usually held on weekends in the afternoon (2 hours)
Annual Tryouts (Upcoming School Year 2026–2027)
- Open to current 3rd–6th graders
- Applications accepted April 1–May 15, 2026
- Invitations will be emailed around the third weekend of May 2026
- Tryouts will take place on the last weekend of May 2026 (2-hour session, afternoon)
Before Tryouts: Invitation & Confirmation
- A Tryout Invitation (with date, time, and location) will be emailed one week before tryouts.
- Players must reply by the stated deadline to confirm or decline.
- No response by the deadline = automatic decline.
- To request a makeup tryout, email the team manager before the reply deadline. Approval is at the coach’s discretion, and positions may not be available after the original tryout.
Tryout Day Guidelines
- Duration: 2 hours
- Check-in: Arrive 20 minutes early for registration and instructions.
- Late arrivals (over 5 minutes late) will be disqualified.
- Attire:
- Plain white T-shirt (no large logos or graphics)
- Basketball shorts and shoes
- No jewelry, watches, or earrings
- What to Bring:
- Towel and water
- Basketball labeled with the player’s name
- Spectator Rules:
- Follow FYBC’s current COVID-19 safety protocols
- No cheering, applause, or sideline coaching during tryouts
What to Expect After Tryouts
- Within one week, all applicants will receive an email with either a “Yes” (acceptance) or “No” (decline) decision.
- Accepted players must reply to the team manager to confirm or decline their offer.
- No response will be treated as a decline.
